KAAC’s Message

Welcome to Korean American Association of Chicago

The Korean American Association of Chicago (K.A.A.C.) was first founded in 1962, and today, we mark the 35th administration since its inception. We owe the success of our association to the hard work and dedication of the past 28 presidents as well as the collaborative efforts for unity among all the Korean Americans in the Chicago area.

Through the past half a century, the Korean American Association of Chicago has been the body that brings together all the Korean Americans as one group. This is evidenced by the acquisition of the building for the association in 1981. This was possible through the voluntary fund-raising movements among many of the Korean Americans. This was the first time that a Korean American Association in any city in the U.S. had acquired its own building.

The Korean American Association of Chicago is the umbrella organization for all the Korean American organizations as well as the representing body of 150,000 Korean Americans in the state of Illinois. Its first and foremost objective is to promote and defend civil rights of Korean immigrants. Furthermore, the organization serves as the bridge between the Korean American community and the mainstream American society through many of the events and collaborating with other social service agencies as well as for-profit companies.

It is my hope that you will find this website resourceful, and wish that we can build a partnership, that will benefit both the Korean American community as well as the greater Chicago area.
